The goodbye can be tricky as well. If the date goes well you wonder whether you should 1) shake hands 2) hug 3) go for the kiss. If you shake hands, does it mean he’s just not that into you? Are you destined for friendship? If you hug, is this also a friendship sign? And if you decide on the kiss..it is a friendly kiss or do you fear rejection?? Yasmine went with the hug. The guy went for the kiss which she took on the cheek. “Let’s meet up again,” he said. She was not sure if this was for real..or if he was just saying this to be nice. There is always a review of every action and every word. What did that mean? Should she wait for him to call her? How long should she wait? Or should she call him? Dating is all about rules…wait three days to call someone back….do not be to keen..play hard to get. I tell her she should be up front and honest. No. It’s not the chapter of my current life. It is the new Merry Streep movie. Can I just say that I love her. She is such a versatile actress. I cannot remember any movie in which she was bad. She’s so good! It’s complicated is about two exes who after 10 years of being divorced find out (or do they?) that there is still some unfinished business. I will not spoil the movie if you have not seen it. As a child of divorced parents, I could not help if this is wishful thinking by anyone who has experience divorce or break ups? The hope that with time things will change and two people who could not make it work will be able to make it happen. In the movie, Meryl’s ex husband played by a still sexy (Alec Baldwin) says that after ten years of divorce they have finally become the people they wanted each other to be…the issues that broke them up ten years before have disappeared (the children are grown up, careers have been sorted, etc). Could timing 10, 15 or 20 years later define the relationship differently?

As a true romantic who still believes that love does conquer all (even though every relationship I’ve seen tells me otherwise) wonders if it is all about timing? I think about my own two failed relationships? Would things be different in five years….or 10? Probably not for the most recent one. I think there is no hope there.
